BrandPoint Services hosts TKD Memorial Weekend to raise funds for suicide prevention.

On the weekend of September 10th, 2021, BrandPoint Services (BPS) joined hands with the TKD Foundation to raise money for suicide prevention and awareness. The TKD Foundation is non-profit organization founded by BPS President, Steve Hearon, and the fellow allies of Todd Delaney, a close friend who died by suicide in 2004. The mission of the TKD Memorial Foundation is to celebrate life, while bringing attention to suicide awareness and prevention, which is exactly what this weekend entailed.

BPS kicked off the weekend by hosting its highly touted Texas hold’em poker tournament, followed by the TKD Memorial Golf Tournament. BPS is proud to share that the two events combined raised just under $50,000 for the TKD Foundation, which will go directly towards suicide awareness, as well as scholarships for youth who have been impacted by suicide.

“The support we’ve gotten from our partners and vendors is humbling,” says Steve Hearon, President of Brandpoint Services. “It is incredibly gratifying to see that we have broken records in attendance, as well as fundraising targets. When I speak to people, it’s always shocking to learn how many of us have been touched by suicide.”

The TKD Foundation is very thankful for everyone in attendance this weekend, as they felt that the two events truly embodied Todd’s spirit.  “The smallest act can change the world,” says Sonya Bohmann, Board Secretary of the TKD Memorial Foundation. “Suicide is a very real and growing epidemic in our country. It’s the 10th leading cause of death in the United States, with more than 44,000 Americans dyingng by suicide each year, and men dying 3.5 times more than women. The good news is that there are more suicide prevention resources than ever before.”

Suicide prevention and awareness is a topic that strikes a chord with many BPS employees, because suicide does not discriminate and has touched almost everyone in one way or another. We are proud to lift the veil and help ease the stigma by openly supporting and talking about  the importance of Suicide Prevention and Mental Health. As the T-shirts for sale at the event said “It is Not About the Golf”  Today, BPS is a strong supporter of the TKD Foundation, and is excited to  take our  5 year relationship with the organization to the next level.  BPS looks to expand its involvement with the TKD Foundation in 2022 by adding more fundraising events to our social purpose calendar.
