BrandPoint Services hosts TKD Memorial Weekend to raise funds for suicide prevention.

Brandpoint Services and the TKD Memorial Foundation joined hands on September 9th & 10th, 2022, to host the 18th Annual TKD Memorial Weekend. The TKD Memorial Foundation is non-profit organization, founded by BPS President, Steve Hearon, and the fellow allies of Todd Delaney, a close friend who died by suicide in 2004.

This two day memorial event is hosted in September each year in honor of Suicide Prevention Awarness Month, with a goal of raising money for suicide prevention, while also shifting the public perception of this stigmatized topic.

BrandPoint Services kicked off the weekend by hosting its highly touted Texas hold’em poker tournament, followed by the TKD Memorial Golf Tournament. Roy Argento took home the poker tournament win, while Fresh Coat Painting team from Central Florida drove home the golf tournament win.

One hundred twenty people were in attendance for the weekend.  With this response the TKD Memorial Foundation was able to  shatter previous fundraising goals.  This allows for suicide awareness and prevention programs, as well as scholarships for youth who have been impacted by suicide.

“The support we’ve gotten from our partners and vendors is humbling,” says Steve Hearon, President of Brandpoint Services. “It is incredibly gratifying to see that we have broken records in attendance, as well as fundraising targets. When I speak to people, it’s always shocking to learn how many of us have been touched by suicide.”

“The smallest act can change the world,” says Sonya Bohmann, Board Secretary of the TKD Memorial Foundation. “Suicide is the 12th leading cause of death in the United States, with more than 45,000 Americans dying by suicide each year, and men dying 3.5 times more than women. While these statistics are staggering, the good news is that there are more suicide prevention resources than ever before.”

BrandPoint Services is proud to break the stigma by openly supporting and talking about the importance of suicide prevention and mental health.
